Louisville City Council Meeting <br />March 19, 2002 <br />Page 12 <br /> <br />Sisk voiced his appreciation for notification of the project status and altematives for <br />proceeding with Highway 42/96th Street Connection. <br /> <br />Simmons updated Council on the Highway 42 revitalization project and noted that there <br />is a meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2002, which would include two Council members <br />and two Planning Commission Staff members. A public meeting will be scheduled to <br />receive input from citizens. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that a Police Building Committee meeting is scheduled for <br />Wednesday, March 20, 2002. Discussions will center on finalizing the square footage <br />and review cost options. He stated that the goal will be to give the architect direction to <br />proceed on a one-story or two-story building. <br /> <br />Sisk asked that Council member Brown's suggestions be shared at the meeting. <br />Brown stated that he is eager to see the Police Building project finalized and move <br />forward. He stressed that there are other project that are waiting for consideration. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that the Louisville KMart will close on May 7, 2002. He stated that he <br />has contacted the owner of the property management company and received a positive <br />response to a meeting with the City to discuss future plans for the building. <br /> <br />Simmons stated that a letter was sent to the City of Boulder regarding the purchase of <br />Windy Gap Water. He asked Public Works Director Tom Phare for an update. Phare <br />stated that he is scheduled to meet with the City of Boulder's Utilities Director to discuss <br />the agreement to purchase Windy Gap Water. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that the Chamber of Commerce has asked him to speak at a luncheon <br />on April 17, 2002. He stated that the title of his speech will be "Great City, Great Plans." <br />He will discuss the City's upcoming projects, such as needs assessment for the Library <br />and Recreation/Senior Center. <br /> <br />Simmons informed Council of future agenda items for meetings and study sessions. The <br />April 2, 2002 meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a study session to discuss the Highway <br />42/96th Street Connection. On the April 9, 2002 study session, discussion on the 5-year <br />capital plan and a presentation of the US 36 Interchange. On the April 23, 2002 study <br />session, discussion on weeds, minimum fences, and storage of parked vehicles and an <br />update of the needs assessment for Library and Recreation/Senior Center. <br /> <br />Simmons reported that, the Charter stipulates that ward redistricting be completed one <br />year after receipt of the census material. That census material was received on May 21, <br />2001 therefore, the deadline for completion is May 21, 2002. He explained that one plan <br />has been completed and more will follow. He noted that the Charter requires that there <br />not be more that 5% difference in population between each ward. <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br /> <br />
