Historic Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes August 19, 2013 Page 5 of 7 La Grave inquired why money is still going to staff member McCartney, who has not been at the HPC meetings. Russ stated his time is spent mentoring Robinson. Stewart inquired about Professional Services – Other and what this line item is. Robinson stated this is for the Preservation Master Plan. La Grave inquired how staff member Robinson’s fees are being paid. Russ stated he is currently being paid out of the special fund. La Grave stated staff member McCartney mentioned staff member Robinson is being requested to be a full time Preservation Planner. Russ answered in the affirmative, but this is only a draft request and has not been approved. La Grave asked if the HPC would get another opportunity to review the draft budget before it goes forward. Fleming stated the draft budget is a public document and comments can be received at any time until adoption. He added additional detail of all staff members who are generally involved in HPC efforts. Discussion ensued regarding additional details of the budget line items. Public Comment John Leary stated he was concerned about funding processes and not funding outcomes. He recommended creating an outlook of what the goals of next year are and how resources will be used. Stewart stated there should be more coordination between HPC and staff so the budget and annual goals can go hand in hand. Discussion – Main Street Program Robinson gave an update from the Main Street Program meeting which took place in July. Stewart stated most of the people who attended were interested in seeing the next step take place. Koertje stated the next step is the evaluation of downtown. Stewart asked staff what needs to happen next.
