Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 19, 2013 <br />Page 5 of 7 <br /> <br />La Grave inquired why money is still going to staff member McCartney, who has not <br />been at the HPC meetings. <br />Russ stated his time is spent mentoring Robinson. <br />Stewart inquired about Professional Services – Other and what this line item is. <br />Robinson stated this is for the Preservation Master Plan. <br />La Grave inquired how staff member Robinson’s fees are being paid. <br />Russ stated he is currently being paid out of the special fund. <br />La Grave stated staff member McCartney mentioned staff member Robinson is being <br />requested to be a full time Preservation Planner. <br />Russ answered in the affirmative, but this is only a draft request and has not been <br />approved. <br />La Grave asked if the HPC would get another opportunity to review the draft budget <br />before it goes forward. <br />Fleming stated the draft budget is a public document and comments can be received at <br />any time until adoption. He added additional detail of all staff members who are <br />generally involved in HPC efforts. <br />Discussion ensued regarding additional details of the budget line items. <br />Public Comment <br />John Leary stated he was concerned about funding processes and not funding <br />outcomes. He recommended creating an outlook of what the goals of next year are and <br />how resources will be used. <br />Stewart stated there should be more coordination between HPC and staff so the budget <br />and annual goals can go hand in hand. <br />Discussion – Main Street Program <br />Robinson gave an update from the Main Street Program meeting which took place in <br />July. <br />Stewart stated most of the people who attended were interested in seeing the next step <br />take place. <br />Koertje stated the next step is the evaluation of downtown. <br />Stewart asked staff what needs to happen next.
