She stated legal aid is the result of a volunteer program, <br />which is supported by the local Bar Association. Legal service is provided Pro Bono by <br />Boulder County Attorneys and Paralegals. She noted next year, there will be matching <br />funds available for grants. <br />SAFEHOUSE PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE GRANT RECIPIENT PRESENTATION <br />Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence is a City of Louisville 2013 Grant <br />Recipient. Anne Tapp, Executive Director presented a brief overview of the non - profit <br />organization and how they are using the grant funds. She explained their work is to <br />recognize the trauma of domestic violence and disaster and help families move on. <br />They provide emergency shelter for victims of violence and work with law enforcement <br />and other agencies, including the Boulder County Legal Services, to provide long -term <br />assistance and help victims rebuild their lives after trauma. <br />RESOLUTION No. 49, SERIES 2013 — A RESOLUTION APPROVING A BUSINESS <br />ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT WITH CABLE TELEVISION TECHNOLOGIES, INC. <br />FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW BUILDING WITHIN THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />Mayor Muckle requested a staff presentation. <br />Economic Development Director DeJong requested City Council action on a proposed <br />Economic Development Business Assistance Package (BAP) for the expansion and <br />relocation of Cable Television Technologies, Inc., commonly known as CableLabs. The <br />proposed business assistance includes a partial rebate on both the building permit fees, <br />construction use tax and consumer use tax for construction of a new facility within the <br />City of Louisville. <br />CableLabs was founded in 1988 and is a non - profit research and development <br />consortium dedicated to pursuing new cable telecommunications technologies and <br />helping its cable operator members integrate those technical advancements into their <br />business objectives. CableLabs has over 20 years of experience and has had an <br />impact on the industry and the deployment of broadband globally. <br />CableLabs has outgrown their existing space at 858 Coal Creek Circle in the Coal <br />Creek Business Park and are looking to construct a new building for their operations to, <br />own or lease from a developer. The new facility will be around 90,000 square feet of <br />office and lab space. Estimated cost of construction is $14,000,000 with $4,000,000 in <br />tenant improvements and $10,000,000 in furniture, fixtures, and equipment. <br />City staff estimates CableLabs will generate new revenue of approximately $933,000 <br />from building permit fees, construction use taxes and consumer use taxes directly to the <br />City in the first year of operation, given the investment described above.
