Thereafter, ~t the next ouboequent regular <br />municipal election and at AT each regular municipal <br />election thereafter, the qu~lified REGISTERED <br />electors of each ward shall elect one city <br />councilmember from each of the wards. Sa-iEi THE <br />councilmembers shall hold their respective offices <br />for a term of four years, commencing on the first <br />Monday after the first Tuesday in January following <br />their election. <br /> <br />2.36.020 Qualifications of candidates. <br /> <br />Every qu~lified REGISTERED elector who has been a <br />resident of the city for a period of twelve months <br />preceding an election is eligible to hold any office to <br />be filled by a municipal election. A qualified <br />REGISTERED elector must be a resident of the ward which <br />fie THE ELECTOR is elected to represent FOR A PERIOD OF AT <br />LEAST TWELVE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE <br />DATE OF THE ELECTION; except that in 'Efte case &f THE <br />boundaries of the ward are changed PURSUANT TO SECTION <br />31-4-104, C.R.S., OR due to annexation, any person who <br />has resided within territory added to the ward for the <br />time described herein shall be deemed to have met the <br />residence requirements for the ward to which the <br />territory was added. <br /> <br />2.36.030 Vacancies. <br /> <br />If any elective officer of the city, during fl4s THE <br />OFFICER'S term of office, removes from or becomes a <br />nonresident of the city or ward from which he lj:~O <br />elected, fie THE OFFICER shall be deemed thereby to have <br />vacated fl4s THE office upon the adoption by the city <br />council of a resolution declaring such vacancy to exist. <br />If any vacancy occurs in any elective office by de~th, <br />reoignation, remo'v'al, or othen:ioe, the same shall be <br />filled by appointment by a majority vote of the council, <br />OR BY ELECTION, and ouch appointee ohall hold hio office <br />~ until THE TERM OF OFFICE OF A SUCCESSOR ELECTED AT <br />the next general REGULAR municipal election I ljlhen ouch <br />vacancy ohall be filled by election, 0.0 in other c~oeo <br />HAS COMMENCED AS PROVIDED IN SECTION 31-4-105, C.R.S.
