Louisville Special City Council Meeting <br />July 23, 2002 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Simmons reviewed the building capital improvement projects, which includes the police <br />building furniture, fixtures and capital and the court facility. With respect to the court <br />facility, and the police communication center, Council determined those projects could be <br />delayed. The City Shop renovation was discussed and would be determined when the <br />City Hall is remodeled. <br /> <br />Cindy Lair reviewed the Park Improvements and explained that in 2003, the repairs to the <br />fishing pond on the Warembourg Open Space would be $160,000; otherwise, the City <br />must pay back $100,000 to the Division of Wildlife. <br /> <br />Council reviewed the Recreation and Senior Services capital improvement budget <br />requests for new construction of Tennis Courts; Memory Square Rehabilitation; two new <br />parks; Community and Spruce Street Parks; the Sport Complex improvements; the Arts <br />Center Bell Tower Restoration, and the Community Parks & Recreation Master Plan. <br /> <br />Davidson suggested raising user fees to cover the cost of ongoing improvements. <br /> <br />Mayer requested information of the cost of annual maintenance of the recreation center. <br /> <br />Council reviewed the following Engineering Capital Improvement Programs: The Via <br />Appia Underpass; South Boulder Road & Via Appia Underpass; Highway 42 Underpass; <br />Coal Creek Trail and County Road Underpass; 96th Street and Dillon Road Underpass; <br />and the Highway 42 and Sports Complex Underpass. <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons explained that the Gateway Improvements are included in <br />the Landscape Master Plan. Council reviewed the following Gateway Improvements: <br />Highway 42 & South Boulder Road; Highway 42 East; Dillon Road East; South 96th <br />Street; south 88th Street; South Boulder Road & Main; Highway 42 & Pine; Pine Street <br />West; and County Road South. <br /> <br />The Public Works Administration Capital Improvement budget included the following: <br />Bella Vista & County Road; Dillon Road (88th to 104th); Highway 42 & Pine St -North <br />City Limits; and the Dillon Road Realignment at South 88th Street. <br /> <br />The Conservation Trust - Lottery Fund Capital Outlay projects was reviewed and include <br />the following: Inline Skating Rink; New Trees; Skateboard Park; Soccer/Multi Purpose <br />Fields; and Arboretum Beautification. With respect to the Arboretum, there was <br />considerable discussion relative to the loss of landscaping (trees and grass) due to the <br />'drought. Council also reviewed the McCaslin Interchange Fund. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of Council that, Staff should prioritize the capital improvement <br />projects, based on comments made at the work session. Davidson requested that Staff <br />have that analysis for Council consideration at their next capital improvement projects <br />next work session. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />
