Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 7, 2013 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />Planning and Building Safety Director Troy Russ thanked OSAB for their work. <br />OPEN GOVERNMENT TRAINING: <br /> BRaD members Alford, Angell, Grassi and Reichenberg were reminded that they must <br />attend Open Government Training <br />2014 PATIO PROGRAM DISCUSSION: <br /> Star reviewed Economic Development Director <br />th <br />September 9 meeting with downtown restaurants. <br /> Chris Pritchard brought forward comments made by restaurant representatives at the <br />th <br />September 9 meeting. Those comments were that most did not want to or have the <br />resources to pay for the patios. <br /> City Manager Fleming recommended a nominal fee and that for new businesses, the <br />first year be free so they can experiment and see if it makes sense for their business. <br /> Councilmember Jasiak reiterated her belief that this program should not be managed <br />chance for the Economic Director to talk with businesses. <br />COLORADO TECHNOLOGY CENTER CONNECTIVITY DISCUSSION: <br /> The Colorado Technology Center (CTC) Metropolitan District funded a study to examine <br />the feasibility of connecting the CTC directly to 96th Street. Planning Director Troy Russ <br />discussed the study and other potential long-term physical improvements for the CTC. <br />th <br /> CTC would like to see better connections to CTC from 96. They would like new traffic <br />signals, trail connections and RTD connections. There are 3500 employees in CTC. <br /> The Metro District was established to fund the construction of public infrastructure within <br />the park. The first generation of projects has been completed and the Metro-District is <br />now discussing its future responsibilities and opportunities. <br />RETENTION MEETINGS <br /> Interim ED Director Star has set up a Retention Meeting with The Singing Cook. Council <br />member Jasiak said she can attend. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEFING <br /> <br />following up. <br /> Creation Fine Arts and Gifts has relocated to 920 Main Street <br /> Café de Paris relocated to 917 Front Street and a photographer moved into the Café de <br />Paris location. <br /> Star attended Colorado State American Planning Association Conference in Vail. The <br />Keynote Speaker was Mitchell Silver, Planning Director of Raleigh, NC.. She said the <br />presentation was very informative. She will try to get notes of the copyrighted <br />presentation. <br /> <br /> <br />
