Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Nlinutes <br />December 16, 2013 <br />Page 3 of 7 <br />Robinson stated commercial structures are eligible for up to $181,000, and new <br />construction is eligible for up to $75,000. <br />Gstalder asked if there was enough funding for our request. <br />Stewart answered in the affirmative. <br />Watson reaffirmed we are doing the landmarking tonight but will come back for grant <br />funding request. Why wasn't it all done for tonight. <br />Robinson stated they weren't ready for the grant application. <br />Gstalder reaffirmed that the landmark would not be approved tonight. <br />Robinson stated that is correct. The HPC will determine if the building is eligible for <br />landmarking, tonight, then the applicant will bring the grant and certificate of alteration <br />for next meeting to go forward as a package deal. He added a landmarking is not <br />formally approved until it goes to City Council. <br />Watson asked if work could begin and then be reimbursed or used for matching. <br />Robinson stated any work, requesting grant funding, cannot begin until after the grant is <br />approved. He added there is an amendment going before City Council in January <br />which will allow previous expenditures to be used towards match funding. <br />Koertje recommended using the name Old Louisville Inn for the landmark instead of <br />Difrancia. <br />Haley recommended combing both Di Francia and Old Louisville Inn. She commented <br />this project "hands down" meets the qualifications for landmarking. She thanked Garrett <br />McCarthy for all of his previous work to preserve this structure. <br />Koertje agreed and addressed the criteria used for determining a landmark. <br />Stewart stated he agreed with both Haley and Koertje. <br />Public Comments - none <br />Commission Comments and Discussion <br />Fasick stated she was alarmed this structure was not listed on the National Registry. <br />She added this local landmark will allow it to finally be recognized. <br />Stewart stated he appreciated staff's report and recommendation. <br />Koertje made a motion to adopt the resolution landmarking the Old Louisville Inn and <br />recommended to go with Di Francia -Old Louisville Inn as the landmark name. Griffin <br />seconded the motion. <br />
