City Council
Meeting Minutes
January 21, 2014
worst case scenarios. He requested the underlying reasons for making all the changes
to the Code are for safety reasons.
Alexandra Bradley, 1385 Caledonia Circle, Louisville, CO filed a petition signed by 53
Louisville residents who oppose amending, repealing and reenacting certain sections of
Title 15 of the Louisville Municipal Code. She urged Council not to change any codes to
allow higher density.
Kyle Pian, 1603 Cottonwood Drive, Louisville, CO voiced support for the comments
made by Joel Hayes about safety in the community; fire access lanes and secondary
access.
Cindy Bedell, 662 W Willow Street, Louisville, CO addressed safety issues and the
dangers of tripling the traffic in Louisville and developing narrow streets. She urged
Council to make a wise decision.
Paula Palmer, 1603 Cottonwood Drive, #N, Louisville, CO asked for a show of hands
from those in the audience who would like to see higher safety standards. Numerous
hands rose in response.
Tim Gromey, 134 Jackson Circle, Louisville, CO voiced his concern the City is pushing
growth and the City is modifying rules to encourage growth.
Jean Morgan, 1131 Spruce Street, Louisville, CO voiced her concern over the
emergency response time to developments having a single access and narrow streets.
She read a letter from Dr. Vinall, which stated a short delay of emergency response
could make a difference to a person having a heart attack, stroke or serious injury. She
drove on narrow streets and reported a driver must drive slower and be aware of traffic
coming forward as there is little room for error or distraction. She felt there should be
bicycle lanes and bicyclists should not have to compete with cars. She stated single
access and narrow streets do not profit the City.
John Leary, 1116 LaFarge Avenue, Louisville, CO quoted the President's speak on the
issue of national security versus privacy rights as follows: "We cannot rely on good will
of those in power to address the issue rather we must have laws." He voiced his belief
that issues of public safety, emergency medical service, fire suppression are in the
same category.
Michael Perkins, 229 Vulcan Street, Louisville, CO wanted to make sure everyone is
heard. Louisville is ranked high for small towns, because it is a safe place to live. He
urged Council to continue the small town philosophy.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
