SUBJECT: SUPERIOR TOWN CENTER HOTEL EFFECT LODGING AND SALES TAX
DATE: NOVEMBER 27, 2013 PAGE 2 OF 2
On the supply side, increased competition will come from multiple sources, not just a
new Superior hotel. Boulder is planning 4 new hotels in town to satisfy Business and
tourism demand within their community that today is staying outside Boulder in hotels in
Louisville and other communities. It is difficult to pinpoint what the effect will be on
Louisville receipts so I provided the various percentage reductions.
The Superior Town Center project will also create a greater demand for hotels in the
area due to new businesses and homes being built. Economic conditions within the
area as a whole continue to improve which will also create opportunity for more hotel
demand. It is difficult to model the positive effect Superior Town Center and the
economy will have on hotel receipts.
RECOMMENDATION:
This memo is for informational purposes only.
