Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Nlinutes
January 13, 2014
La Grave asked staff if there was a contingency provided in this request just in case of
surprises.
Robinson stated no because they were asking for the full amount.
La Grave asked what the timing of the project would be.
Gstalder stated they are having the construction plans completed and want to get started as
soon as City Council makes their final decision.
Fahey asked if the structure was going to be landmarked.
Stewart stated grants are only permitted to be approved if the structure is landmarked and the
HPC reviewed the landmark request in December. He added City Council still needs to
approve the landmark but all requests will be going to City Council together.
Watson made a motion to approve this request as presented by staff.
Fahey seconded the motion.
Stewart asked for a friendly amendment to change item #1 on the resolution.
Watson and Fahey accepted the friendly amendments.
Motion carried 7 to 0.
PUBLIC HEARING — Demolition Request — DELO (1000 Griffith, 1004 Griffith, 1341
Cannon)
Robinson presented the information provided in the packet. He stated staff recommended
releasing the demolition application for 1000 Griffith and 1341 Cannon. He added the
applicant is requesting to relocate 1004 Griffith.
Watson stated the lack of information of 1004 Griffith makes this request difficult, however it
appears to be over 50 years of age. He added the relocation is somewhat sketchy and wanted
to know what guarantees we have the structure will make it.
Robinson stated the owner can answer that.
Fahey asked if we approve the demolition permit tonight, does that mean they can demo 1004
Griffith.
Robinson answered no.
Rick Brew, applicant, spoke in regards to the project.
Watson stated moving structures is a tricky process and wondered if they had someone in
mind.
