Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Nlinutes <br />January 13, 2014 <br />Page 5 of 11 <br />Brew stated he was unsure of that number and would need to do some more research. <br />Watson made a motion to approve the demolition of 1000 Griffith Street and 1341 Cannon, <br />and approve the relocation of 1004 Griffith Street. <br />Haley seconded the motion. <br />La Grave asked Robinson if each structure is to be treated as a standalone application. <br />Robinson stated it would all be treated as one application. <br />La Grave asked if the applicant would be interested in continuing the discussion on 1004 <br />Griffith until they received the information on the cost to relocate the structure. <br />Brew stated he would rather have a decision tonight, understanding they will bring any new <br />information back to the board. <br />Motion approved 7 to 0. <br />PUBLIC HEARING — Demolition Request — 1303 Grant <br />Robinson presented the information provided in the staff report. Based on social history and <br />architectural integrity, he recommended a stay be placed on the application. <br />Stewart stated the architecture looked very strong. <br />Watson asked anyone knew what the composition of the exterior siding was. <br />Bradley McKinley, applicant stated the current siding was asbestos. <br />Watson asked if the siding had been tested. <br />McKinley stated yes, asbestos was found in the siding, chimney, ceiling tiles and flooring. <br />Watson stated it is the outside of the house that we are most concerned with <br />McKinley stated it would cost approximately $6,400 to remove the siding. He added there was <br />an inspection performed on the structure and there are numerous structural and wiring issues. <br />Echohawk asked when the addition was done. <br />Robinson stated 1963. <br />Fahey stated she feels as though the existing house would make a great entryway for an <br />addition. <br />McKinley stated the removal of the asbestos siding will change the character of the house. He <br />added the numerous issues of this house make it not feasible to save. He would be more <br />willing to consider making a new structure look like it once did. <br />
