Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Nlinutes
January 13, 2014
Fahey stated if you keep the structure you can receive assistance from the HPF and receive
incentives for size as well.
McKinley stated the monetary assistance would be interesting but the incentives would not.
Echohawk asked if there were estimates for making the other improvements on this house.
McKinley stated the improvements would be in excess of $10,000.
Public Comments
Ryan Hanneman, neighbor at 1324 Lincoln, stated he was excited to learn the house was
going to be torn down and something new would be put in its place. He does not believe there
is much integrity in this section of our neighborhood.
Stewart asked if the applicant had been informed of the HPF incentives.
McKinley answered in the affirmative.
Stewart stated the architectural integrity is still in great shape and a post war structure is
unique for this area.
Haley asked when the project would begin.
McKinley stated he would be starting immediately.
La Grave stated he is trying to figure out if you are interested in learning more about the HPF
to save the structure or are you set against retaining the structure due to lofty costs. Which is
it.
McKinley stated his first preference is to move forward with the demolition. However if it is not
deemed acceptable, then he would be interested in the funding.
Fasick asked who are the architects on the board to provide design assistance.
Stewart stated himself and Watson are the architects on board.
Haley stated she would be interested in studying what the options would be if the structure
were retained and an addition were placed behind it.
La Grave stated an addition might envelope the existing structure too much to where it
wouldn't be worth maintaining.
Stewart agreed with La Grave's comments, but stated they wouldn't know until a design was
completed.
Watson asked if the applicant's design professional ever recommended integrating the existing
structure within the final design.
