1
I
agreed unanimously that we would show our support and endorsement
Iin this manner.
Jennifer has spoken to city manager Dave Stahl and reports that
II he is very supportive of the Council and its goals . Jennifer has
agreed to be our liaison with the Louisville city government.
She will talk with Herm Fauson and relate our experience in
I having our meeting moved from city hall at the last minute and
inconveniencing our guest speaker. Jennifer will also discuss
with Mr. Stahl the possibility of having the city mail our
citizen survey. She will also invite him to a council meeting to
I discuss our goals for promoting the arts and humanities in
Louisville .
I The citizen survey was discussed and approved with a few minor
changes . John would like the survey to show how many
professional artists are in the community and what medium they
I are in. Changes will be made and it will be presented at the
next meeting.
The Mission Statement for the Council was voted on and approved
lbunanimously.
There was nothing to report on the Council ' s 501C3 status. The
II Council has been assigned a Federal ID number which is 841119561 .
All information pertaining to federal reporting was given to
Jennifer and she has agreed to be responsible for filing.
IIt was decided the Council will be promoting cultural events in
the new recreation center space as opposed to finding space that
would be specifically devoted to such events . Should we have the
I support and resources for such a space in the future we will take
advantage of it at that time.
I Mary has agreed to write a notice for the Louisville Times
regarding how to apply for grant funding. This will hopefully
generate interest and ideas from local artists for grant
applications .
IINancy will send Homer Page a thank you letter for attending our
meeting. She will also send along a copy of our survey and our
IImission statement.
GUEST ADDRESS:
IHomer Page attended the council meeting to address the members on
the effective functioning of an Arts and Humanities Council . He
10 also gave some pointers on applying for grant funding; i.e. ,
projects that would be considered favorably as well as how to
complete the grant application form. He informed the Council
that we may apply for grant funding in our own behalf for start
IIup funds. He suggested we keep the amount small .
