i
Carolyn mentioned that it was her understanding that grant funds
' could not be used for awards and prizes for visual artists. Mr .
Page said that he thought that was incorrect and encouraged the
Louisville Art Association to apply for funds for artists prize
money.
Carolyn also mentioned that the museum had inquired about
' applying for grant funding. Mr. Page stated that museums may
apply as long as the money is used to promote an arts event.
Funds may not be used for building improvements . Works of art
' for the new library building, a pottery kiln for the new
recreation center and art workshops were also mentioned as
possible projects that may be worthy of grant funding. Mr. Page
said all of these types of projects would be considered by the
County Commissioners as worthwhile and deserving of grant
funding. In the case of art workshops , the artists professional
quality should be well documented.
' Carolyn asked about conflict of interest for Council members
wishing to have other groups they are involved with apply to the
Council for sponsorship of grant applications . Mr. Page saw no
problem with this since the county would be deciding on grant
application approvals and distributing the funds and the Council
would not be involved with approvals. Their is no ceiling on the
amount of grant funding that Louisville applicants can receive .
TOPICS FOR CONSIDERATION AT NEXT MEETING:
The funding and means for printing and mailing our citizen survey
will be decided upon.
' It was reported by John that plans for the new recreation center
have already been drawn up. John sat in on the last meeting of
the planning committee for the center . Carolyn will try to
arrange a meeting with the architect to voice our suggestions for
space allotment.
' The Council would like to hold a logo competition to come up with
a logo for the council . The possibility of a $100.00 savings
bond as a .prize for the winning logo was discussed.
' The content of the letter to the library board showing our
support in moving the elevator will be decided upon.
Jennifer proposed that at the next meeting we discuss expanding
on the Louisville Arts Festival .
LN
