1
page three
criteria,(for the Local Arts Council Grants ram ro ,) once we have received our 501 (3)
P 9
(c) IRS tax status, and have been in active service for one full year. John then gave
' examples of project for which this money could be used, such as additional support for
the Fall Festival. John then talked about the availability of private grants, such as one
offered by Neodata corporation, also requiring 501 (3) (c) tax status.
Once we have obtained 501 (3) (c) status, the council discussed the necessity of
presenting possible grant options to the city, so that key leaders will have an awareness
of what our council can potentially do, and thereby be in greater support of our purpose.
' The council then exchanged philosophy and discussion regarding art/cultural programs
and it was felt that they should be accessible to all people. The council hopes to
partially alleviate an old sterotype that the arts are for an elite upperclass minority.
' The council discussed ideas to be presented before work groups planning the library and
recreation center so that we can positively affect design decisions and make the facility
more aesthetically pleasing to all. Head Librarian Nelda Mohr agreed to contact
Carolyn, so that a representative of the council can attend an architect's meeting and
provide input.
Specific ideas for content and design of the citizen survey were discussed, and John
agreed to assemble the final draft. Jennifer agreed to produce a finished document using
desktop publishing, suitable to present before city council.
Jennifer offe red to make copies for th council of the Local Art Age n cy information,
prepare the minutes in Nancy's absence, and draft a mission statement and goals from
the County Cultural Tax District mission statement and goals.
1 1
1
1
1
