City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 15, 2014 <br />Page 10 of 15 <br />Council member Lipton agreed with Council member Stolzmann the 4th of July fireworks <br />is a special occasion for Louisville, however he felt this is a very unique set of <br />circumstances this year and supported postponing the fireworks until next year. He <br />suggested waiting to see where the City is in the budget process. <br />Mayor Muckle also agreed the 4th of July fireworks are what make Louisville special. He <br />did not think the same experience could be had at any other location. He noted the golf <br />course will probably be seeded in July, therefore making it the worst time to have the 4th <br />of July event there. He suggested the City have a BBQ in Community Park. Public <br />Relations Manager stated the BBQ in the park would be twice the cost of the fireworks. <br />He felt the fireworks could be postponed. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Debbie Fahey, 1112 W. Enclave Circle, Louisville, CO agreed with Council members <br />comments about the 4th of July fireworks being a wonderful event. She asked why the <br />Community Park was not considered as a site for the 4th of July fireworks event. She <br />suggested the City partner with Mrs. Wecker to have fireworks on her property. <br />COUNCIL DISCUSSION <br />Mayor Muckle suggested the City have a band or concert at Community Park. It was <br />noted many of the parks are already booked. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton thought the fireworks event should be postponed and the City <br />should have two celebrations next year. Council member Loo agreed the fireworks <br />should be postponed. <br />Council member Stolzmann suggested the fireworks be held at the Arboretum. <br />Council member Lipton stated the City needs to reach out to the public to let them know <br />the reason for cancelling the fireworks.
