City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 20, 2014 <br />Page 16 of 20 <br />UPDATE TO CEMETERY RULES AND REGULATIONS <br />RESOLUTION No. 30, SERIES 2014 — A RESOLUTION ADOPTING UPDATED <br />CEMETERY RULES AND REGULATIONS AND DELEGATING TO THE CITY <br />MANAGER THE AUTHORITY CONCERNING THE ADOPTION OR AMENDMENT OF <br />SAME <br />ORDINANCE No. 1666, SERIES 2014 — AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER <br />2.76 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO UPDATE THE CITY'S <br />REGULATIONS REGARDING USE AND CONTROL OF CEMETERIES — 1ST Reading <br />— Set Public Hearing — 06/03/2014 <br />Mayor Muckle requested a City Attorney introduction. <br />City Attorney Light reviewed Ordinance No. 1666, Series 2014 updates the Louisville <br />Municipal Code regarding the use and control of cemeteries. Staff's recommendation is <br />to publish Ordinance No. 1666, Series 2014 and set a public hearing for June 3, 2014. <br />Resolution No. 30, Series 2014, deals with updating the cemetery's rules and <br />regulations. <br />Mayor Muckle requested a staff presentation. <br />Parks and Recreation Director Stevens explained the Parks and Recreation Senior <br />Administrative Assistant, Polly Boyd became aware Colorado Revised Statutes Section <br />31 -25 -708 (7) was amended to expressly provide that a governing body of a <br />municipality not convey title to real property platted as a burial space, but instead grant <br />interment rights and issue a certificate of purchase only to a burial space. Changes to <br />the Municipal Code need to be made to stay current. Filing of the deed with Boulder <br />County used to be as easy as walking across the street, but since they have moved it <br />requires driving to another location to file the paperwork. Housekeeping to the rules <br />and regulations will help to more effectively work with folks who are dealing with a very <br />difficult time. <br />Mayor Muckle called for public comment and hearing none asked for Council comment. <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br />Council member Lipton asked how this would affect anyone who currently had burial <br />spaces. Parks and Recreation Director Stevens reported there would be no change for <br />them. <br />
