LCityof
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
Golf Course Advisor). r Board Tour Notes
June 18 2014
Pagel of 4
Golf Course Advisory Board
Notes from Tour of Golf Course
6 -18 -2014
Participants:
Kevin Norby: Golf Course Architect
Joe Stevens, Allan Gill, Chris Bradford: City Staff
Brian Vitek (Project Manager) Jeff Matthews (Project Superintendent)
Landscapes Unlimited
Ken Gambon, Lisa Norgard, Dennis Maloney, Heikke Neilsen, Sandy
Stewart: Golf course Advisory Board
Summary: the tour was highly informative and demonstrated that we will have a
much improved golf course when work is complete. LU said they were 1.5 to 2
weeks behind schedule but planned to make up time by adding more staff after
July 4th. Work on the ponds has taken more time due to groundwater issues.
LU expects to have more accurate costs for the basic contract items and for the
add /alternate items in two weeks, particularly the bathroom on 15 tee area. This
will allow informed decisions on what we will be able to add to the basic work.
Concerns expressed by homeowners on the cart path on hole #4 were
addressed to the satisfaction of the Board members present and more details
were obtained on the water mitigation plans for hole #8.
Ponds: Completing the repair of the ponds and getting them refilled is a pacing
item in being able to pressurize the irrigation system. Work has been delayed
due to excessive groundwater. The pond liner manufacturer will only allow the
liner to be installed when the pond bottom is dry. Gravel drains and sump pumps
are being installed to complete and maintain the removal of ground water.
Currently the pumps are removing 250 gallons per hour 12 hours daily. Lining is
expected to start next week with completion in around 4 weeks. Soil dug out
from the ponds is spread on the fairways to dry and will be mostly put back into
the ponds on top of the liners when that work is complete.
Irrigation: Two teams are working the installation of the new irrigation system,
one team working the main line and the other working on laterals including the
wiring. LU said progress is on schedule. Boring the main line under Dillon Road
hit and penetrated the City water 24" line but the leak has been stopped and
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335.4735 • FAX (303) 335.4738
www.Iouisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS
GOLF
5
