LCityof
Louisville
Golf Course Advisor). Board Tour Notes
June 18 2014
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
homeowners along the 12th and 8th hole to insure everyone understands the
plans prior to construction after Kevin, David and City staff meet.
Hole #14: We viewed progress on the irrigation system. The weather station has
been moved from the Maintenance Area to a spot between the 14th and 18th
fairways so readings are more indicative of conditions in the turfed area. Ken
talked with Chris Bradford about screening in the weather station with cyclone
fencing to prevent vandalism and errant golf shots damaging the equipment.
Hole 15: The tees are significantly improved for elevation and alignment. The
new pot bunker at the inner corner of the dogleg will make the hole significantly
more interesting as well as the new bunkers on the outside edge of the dogleg.
The multiple tiers on the green will present a good challenge. The current right
greenside bunker is being converted to a collection area cut at rough height with
a new bunker added on the left side of the green
Hole 16: The tees are being elevated and lowered to improve sightlines and
allowing more play from the upper level as well as providing an additional front
tee. The changes to the fairway bunkers make for a narrow and challenging
landing area. Moving the green makes it much more visible from the tees and is
nicely sloped. The berms and trees and irrigation along HWY 36 will make this
hole even more attractive from both the course and the turnpike and will be paid
for by the highway contractor.
Hole 17: The cart path is widened and curbed at the tee box. Recontouring to
the left of the green will help stop balls bouncing into the creek.
Hole 18: The new back tee will provide a challenge. The new bunker at the
outside of the dogleg provides a good target from the tee and moving the cart
path inside the tree line avoids the current problem of balls hitting the cart path.
Other discussion:
Restroom: depending on available funds, Kevin Norby suggested that we run
the utilities to the planned restroom and complete it at some point in the future.
In any event, we expect to have a storm shelter in place. As an alternative,
Parks and Recreation are installing a Vault Restroom at Harper Lake and we can
evaluate how it is accepted. LU pointed out that running utilities to the planned
restroom would have been much easier before the irrigation laterals were put in
the ground. Joe expressed concern that LU knew the bathroom potential location
and he did not want to incur any additional costs because the irrigation lines are
now in place.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335.4735 • FAX (303) 335.4738
www.Iouisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS
GOLF
7
