Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Nlinutes
June 16, 2014
Watson stated he really likes the project and the visual cues to history. He appreciates
all of the architectural treatments being proposed to add to the character of the area and
the property.
Echohawk asked if there would be any interpretation to the industrial history.
Hartronft stated there definitely will be.
The HPC agreed unanimously to forward the PUD comments.
Discussion — Bylaws
Watson asked staff for clarification on why rules of procedure were originally used by the HPC
and not bylaws.
Robinson stated he was unsure as to why the rules of procedure were adopted and not
bylaws.
Fahey stated she was surprised we didn't have bylaws.
Watson stated his main goal is to create public comment.
Stewart asked why should we have bylaws.
Robinson stated it is mainly to fall back on for the operation of the meetings. He added other
boards have bylaws.
Watson recommended the HPC review the bylaws, comment, then bring them back markups
to the next meeting. He asked staff to give a reading as to why the bylaws are needed and
what we should be looking for.
Stewart asked if the City Attorney would need to review them.
Robinson answered in the affirmative.
Discussion — Outreach meeting with realtors, architects, contractors, etc.
Robinson stated staff is working on a list of all of the development professionals who work
downtown.
Watson stated it would be good to schedule a meeting.
La Grave stated it might be good to hold off on such a meeting for 4 to 8 weeks to allow for
Trice to get enveloped into the City. He recommended putting an informational pamphlet at
the Planning desk where the contractors can review.
Fahey recommended in addition to giving information we ask for guidance from them and find
out what type of media they prefer.
