As far as the brick on the
sidewalls, he wonders if that in time a colored concrete wall may hold up better.

McAvinew asked if the applicant has come up with a new name.

Mr. Kane does not have a problem with Caledonia Place Apartments as suggested by Ken Johnstone.

Commissioner Kalish asked if they have made a provision for recycling.

Mr. Kane will look into providing a place for recyclables.

Chairman Lipton asked why this is a SRU.

Mr. Johnstone stated that to a large extent the PUD is intended to supercede the SRU process.

Mr. Lipton’s only concern is the on-street parking. In this situation the Staff felt it was
necessary to raise this as a concern for the Commission to consider. There is other parking in the area.
The school is being used by many others as additional parking already. There is additional parking further
down the street.

Mr. Kane added that Griffith Street is a half a block to the south and that he has visited with the
neighbors who indicated that they did use the school parking lot for additional parking.

Commissioner McDermott asked what the purpose of the wall is on the south side.

Mr. Kane stated that the drainage from all of the lots flows back into the railroad right-of-way making it
necessary to change the grade somewhat.

Staff Summary:

10
