Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 18, 2014 <br />Page 5 of 9 <br />Watson made a motion to approve the request requiring front window found in Page 100 and <br />wood frame windows. <br />Fahey seconded the motion. <br />Stewart recommended staff further review the construction drawings to make sure the <br />condition of the resolution is met. <br />Motion approved by voice vote. <br />PUBLIC HEARING — 1013 Jefferson, Grant <br />Watson asked for ex parte communication or conflicts. <br />Trice presented staffs report. She stated the landmark was approved in 2013. She added the <br />applicant has received several bids for the windows and stated staff recommends the <br />craftsman style, Sierra Pacific wood windows. She stated the applicant will be doing the trim <br />work. She stated the $6,209.39 with a 15% contingency. She added this work will also require <br />an Alteration Certificate. Based on the criteria for an Alteration Certificate, staff recommends <br />approval. <br />Watson asked of the extra windows on the house, does staff know how big the existing <br />windows are. He is worried the Sierra Pacific will run too narrow and thin. <br />Trice stated the existing windows are "ghost windows" or fixed modern windows. <br />Fahey asked for the period of significance. <br />Trice stated it would be the 1920's. <br />Stewart asked which window goes where, based on the plan. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the details of the existing windows and what Sierra Pacific <br />windows would bring, or not bring, to the structure. <br />Watson asked what staff meant by double awning. <br />Trice stated it is term referring to the interior view. <br />Applicant Presentation <br />Derek Greene, property owner, presented. He stated none of the windows in the house are <br />from the 1906 structure. He stated there are windows from the 1950's and none of the <br />operable windows operate. <br />Stewart asked if there was any thought of replacing the windows with windows of a specific <br />period. <br />Greene said it is more of a cost issue than anything else. <br />
