The focus of the interpretive park will be the actual mine cap,
which will be grout filled and capped after all of the ground structural measures have
been completed. An 8' public art structure (shown on the PUD as "Overhead Structure)
will be placed on the cap designed to emulate the structural timbers typically found in a
mine shaft. A semi - circular sidewalk is proposed to allow the visitor to walk underneath
the public art structure and within the landscaped interpretive park.
A bench will be located on the street side of the cap and overhead structure.
An interpretive sign is being designed for this site, giving background information on the
Acme Mine, as well as historical photo(s). There is a concept image provided in the
PUD. The concept design has been reviewed and endorsed by the Parks and
Recreation Department, however the language for the sign is being vetted by the
Historical Commission at their November 2014 meeting.
