L
Ctyof
Louisville
Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
September 15 2014
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
o The rough will be slit seeded and overseeded with rye and bluegrass
where necessary
o The irrigation installation is not yet complete. All main lines have been
installed but work has not yet started on the laterals on holes 1, 2 and 3. A
minor problem on the computer control system is being fixed. The booster
pump is fully operational.
o The bridges are still in fabrication but are due for delivery and installation
shortly. It was not possible to complete the fabrication on -site, so a large
crane is needed to position the entire bridge structures on holes 6, 10 and
17. This will require some repair work as this is liable to cause damage to
the playing surface. Due to the missing bridge, work on the back tee on
hole 17 has not started.
o Due to a new State regulation regarding recycled water, a valve is being
installed to close the pipe that can discharge pond water into the creek.
o A minor change has been approved. Instead of the last target area being
used as a nursery green, a dedicated nursery green will be built at the back
of the driving range. This was proposed by David so that use of the driving
range will not be affected when the nursery is being worked on. The
nursery green will be increased in area to 5,000 sq. ft. and have a reduced
root zone depth of 3 inches. These costs balance out so no overall cost
increase is incurred.
o The Board suggested that we should start planning for potential uses for
the golf course when it is closed for play due to weather in the winter of
2015/2016. David's experience at Vail is very useful in this area and he
noted that greens and tees should be roped off. Potential issues for the
upcoming winter include more trespassing when LU is not present,
potential damage to the new grass by geese etc..
o It was noted that the changes to yardage will require the purchase of new
tee markets and the Board discussed the potential for volunteers (such as
the Ladies League) to plant flowers to enhance the tee markers. The
Board will consider creating a list for other volunteer opportunities.
o Staff will get a formal schedule update from Landscapes Unlimited on Wed
Sep 17.
• Add Alternates: We still plan to lay the water and sewer line to the Restroom
by hole 15 but final costing is not yet available. Kevin Norby is working on
some concepts for the restroom structure for when we are able to fund that.
• Cost is still on target. Payments totaling $3.1M have been made to LU to date.
FEMA has approved, at regional level, their contribution of $2.6M for the
renovation work plus $325K for the grow -in period.
