Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />September 3, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />make two visits beginning in October, and the process should be completed by <br />December 2014. <br />B. The scanner for processing photos arrived. Megan Huelman, an intern, has been <br />cataloguing historical photos and will continue to do this work through mid - <br />December. She has completed over 2,000 photos so far, and now will be able to use <br />the scanner and develop a procedure for digitization. <br />C. The library now offers over 400 online GALE courses at no charge to patrons. GALE <br />courses cover a wide variety of "How To' courses from IT to Health to Hobbies. You <br />can get a certificate for completion for some courses. <br />D. An additional Study Room is being completed for the library. In addition, the <br />library submitted a proposal for a Library Science and Technology Act grant. If funded, <br />the library would build a "makerspace" with audio /visual /music editing /circuitry <br />capability. Beth will hear if the grant is funded sometime in September. <br />E. This year's "On the Same Page" book is Pandora's Lunchbox by Melanie Warner of <br />Boulder, CO. Several events are planned for community participation in Louisville, <br />Lafayette, and Superior. <br />F. Cameras have been installed in the Library Meeting Room so meetings and events <br />can be streamed on Channel 8 and the City website. <br />VII. Report from the Museum Coordinator: (written report attached to agenda) <br />A. Approval of Deeds of Gifts from donors: The Commission voted to accept the <br />following 12 donations: <br />1. From Barb Gigone, digital photos of the 1990's remodel of the house at 944 <br />Grant; <br />2. From Dick DelPizzo, a copy of a 1940s photo of himself and his two best <br />friends; <br />3. From Linda Knutson, copies of pictures and letters from the previous <br />owners (the Weavers) of her house on Garfield; <br />4. From Grace Dionigi, seven family photos relating to the Bosko family; <br />5. From Diane Vandepeute, LHS items from 1964, 1940 playbills, 1982 reunion <br />items, and St. Louis School history; <br />6. From an anonymous donor, a scrapbook and documents; <br />7. From Jim Boyer, a blank receipt book from the Ernest Jannucci Meat Market; <br />8. From Sam Duran, a handbook from the St. Louis School in the 1980's and <br />issues of the Louisville Times; <br />9. From Anthony Gabriella, scanned pictures of Boulder City and his parents; <br />10 & 11. From Tom Mudrock, numerous items including Louisville Times, <br />UMW Worker's Journal, Pirates memorabilia, and two pictures of Italian <br />relatives; and <br />12. From Sandy Beranek, a T -shirt from "John's Place" and the "Track Inn ", a <br />1932 LHS commencement announcement, and a Louisville Centennial banner - <br />1878 -1978. <br />
