City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 18, 2014 <br />Page 10 of 16 <br />Council member Keany originally supported Option C -1, but was inclined to agree with <br />Mayor Pro Tem Dalton's suggestion for a simpler design in Option A. Mayor Muckle <br />also supported Option A, but was inspired by Option C -1 for the historic railroad <br />influences. Council member Loo also supported Option A. <br />Council member Stolzmann felt all the options were fairly similar. She voiced her <br />concern over the authenticity of Option D and felt it may appear to be just decorative. <br />She felt Option A was adequate, but was interested in knowing if a truss could be <br />integrated into the design rather than being a decorative detail. <br />Council member Leh voiced his support with Option C -1, but was concerned over <br />spending money for decoration. He would support Option A because it is similar to the <br />way the bridge looked like before the flood. <br />There was Council consensus of Option A and 4 -foot shoulders. <br />Public Works Director Kowar asked for Council direction on the stone. Ms. Meier <br />reviewed the options for the walls; Dry Stack Formliner or a Bush Hammered Formliner. <br />She noted single color stone does not look quite as natural, but is easier to maintain. <br />Mayor Muckle voiced his preference for the colored stone. Council member Keany <br />supported the Dry Stack appearance but had no preference for the color. Mayor Pro <br />Tem Dalton concurred. <br />Council member Leh preferred the Dry Stack appearance and the least expensive stain <br />to maintain. Ms. Meier noted the stone can be stained at a later date. <br />Mayor Muckle felt there was real value in the natural stone. He favored the Dry Stack <br />field stone and inquired about the cost of multi - colored stain. Ms. Meier estimated it <br />would cost $30,000 more and noted it requires someone with a lot of experience in <br />painting stone. <br />Parks and Recreation Director Stevens asked if the finish was graffiti resistant. Ms. <br />Meier stated an anti - graffiti coating can be applied and noted a rough texture is less <br />likely to get tagged. <br />Public Works Director Kowar requested Council determine what would be the best fit for <br />the walls. <br />Council member Stolzmann asked what formliner finish would repeat the historic wall <br />affect. Ms. Meier stated the Dry Stack Formliner would repeat the historic wall affect. <br />There was Council consensus for a multi - colored Dry Stack Formliner. <br />DISCUSSION /DIRECTION /ACTION — <br />
