LCityof
Louisville
Golf Course Advisorj' Board Minutes
November 17 2014
COLORADO - SINCE 1878
neogov website and is being publicized on the Colorado PGA, local Parks and
Recreation websites and on Craigslist. Applications will close on Dec 8 and
interviews are tentatively scheduled for January 8th and 9th. An open house will be
scheduled for the GCAB and the golf league members to meet candidates. The
Board nominated Heikke Neilsen and Dennis Maloney to be part of the formal
interview panel and a motion to approve was proposed by Sandy Stewart and
Seconded by Lisa Norgard. The intent is to have the successful candidate on board
during February. The Head Pro position and David Dean's position as Golf
Superintendent will report directly to the Director of Parks and Rec. The F & B
concession manager will coordinate with the Head Pro.
In addition, an opening will be posted for a Marketing and Promotions position that
will be shared between the Golf Course and Parks and Recreation. This position will
be posted in December with the intent to make the hire in February or March.
Subordinate positions will be filled in sequence depending on the opening date.
These will include a 1st and 2nd Assistant Pro plus seasonal maintenance staff.
General related discussion:
• There will be a city -owned computer and printer available for handicap entry etc.
The Mens and Ladies Leagues will be able to link in their own laptops via Wi -Fi
• Lisa is working on getting a tall cabinet to house the computer and it will be
moved into the Pro Shop area.
• Running services for the future bathroom by the 15th tee will cost $52K and there
is no funding remaining to cover that. Joe estimates that the combined residue
of the two contingency accounts is between $5K and $15K
• Water stations will be provided, tentatively at the tee boxes on holes 4, 8, 15 and
17 plus the existing facilities at the restrooms by hole #6 and at the clubhouse.
• Three benches are planned to be bought at a cost of $1200 to $1500 each. The
Ladies League plans to sponsor one bench and the Mens League is considering
sponsoring a second.
• Staff is working with the Golf Architect to specify new tee markers. One
approach is to plane down and re- inscribe the existing stone markers. Another
approach is to use steel plate markers with a rust finish and details etched in.
Concepts will be presented at the January Board Meeting.
• The Men's League and Staff discussed how best to schedule Tournaments and
Leagues given the uncertain opening date. All leagues will have to play away
courses until June (at best) and then decisions will have to be made on when to
bring these events back to Coal Creek once a clearer picture of progress is
available. The Leagues will work with the Head Pro on this.
• Despite losing Coal Creek as the home course, Membership of the Mens League
has not been badly affected. Membership dropped from 228 to 190 and plans to
bring members back need to be addressed.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT - 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 3354735 - FAX (303) 3354738
www.Iou isvi I leco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
