David Dean was going to look into the different paint options for the
hole markers. We, as a group, felt that a simple hole marker in this
case would be better.
• Discussion then focused on Katherine’s tee marker ideas. The
initial thought process for the tee markers is to not have any color
denotation on them. After much discussion about this forward
thinking idea by the board, staff and the public. The idea of not
having defining colors on each tee box was well received by all.
The tee markers presented would be a coal cart, an opening of a
mine shaft, a shovel/pic ax and the letters TNT all made from
corten steel. All based off of vintage coal mining.
• Joe Stevens stated that he would like to address the Coal Creek
signage in Phase I along hwy 36. Katherine provided two options
to us, one of which we selected the sign with the stone on it. The
sign proposed is approximately 15’ high by 20’ long and can be
made into a “V” so that drivers along hwy 36 would be able to see
the sign going east or west. Discussion to add the name of our
new restaurant is still to be determined.
b. Fees/Charges-
• Many different options were presented and discussed regarding the
“proposed” fee structure provided in our packet. The concern being
the somewhat large increase in range and cart fees, with the punch
passes not really providing a significant decrease in price.
• Lisa noted that there was not a 9 Hole Twilight rate and that the
punch passes need to have a name associated with it such as The
Coal Creek Miners Club.
• John Clark stated he was happy to see an annual pass on the
proposed fee structure.
c. Staffing- Joe stated that we had eight finalist and now are down to six
with two candidates dropping out. All six finalists have been invited to
Thursday’s meet and greet open house at the Coal Creek Clubhouse.
This is an informal format and a great way to see how our final candidates
relate to our community. This process allows the City to be as open and
transparent as they can be.
d. Reconstruction-
1) Punch List- David Dean’s update; hole 14 fairway and a portion of the
punch bowl green still needs to be seeded. Hole 14 remains the
biggest item to be completed. All tee boxes and course greens have
been seeded and are showing signs of germination. Monies are still
available for more seeding and sod if needed. Joe informed us that LU
is 95% complete with their billing and with the project to date.
