signals in connection with the provisions of this ordinance, <br />provided t'nat in the event of a fire or other emergencies <br />or to expediate traffic or safe-guard pedestrians, officers <br />of the Police or Fire Department or any other. duly appointed <br />and authorized person may direct traffic as conditions may <br />require notwithstanding tYie provisions of this ordinance. <br />Sec. 2. The Mayor is hereby empowered to make and <br />enforce regulations necessary to make effective the pro- <br />visions of this ordinance, and to make and enforce tempo- <br />rary re gulations to govern emergencies of special conditions; <br />providing such regulations are promulgated in writing, <br />signed by hire and maintained in his office as publicre- <br />cords. <br />Sec. 3. It is unlawful for any rerson to do any act <br />forbidden, or fail to perform a.ny act required in this ordi- <br />nance. <br />Sec. 4. I~To person shall wilfully fail or refuse to <br />comely with a.ny lavvful order or direction of a police officer. <br />The provisions of this ord'.inarce shall apply to the driver <br />of any vehicle owned btu ors used. 'in the service of the United <br />States Government, this State, County or Towr_, a.r.d it shall <br />be unlawf~zl for any said driver to violate anv of the pro- <br />visions of this ordinance except as otherwise permitted in <br />this ordinance or by st~~t,e statute. <br />Sec. 5. Exemptions to authorized emer~~ency vehicles - <br />The provisions of t':~is ordinance regulating;the operation <br />of parking, and standir_g of vehicle shill apply to author- <br />ized emergency vehicles, as definer ir_ this ordinance, <br />except a.s follows: <br />A driver, when operating any such vehicle in an emer- <br />genet', except when otherwise directed by a Police officer, <br />may; <br />(1) Park or stand notwithstanding the provisions of <br />this ordinance; <br />(2) Proceed past aa. red or stop sign or signal rut <br />4 <br />ii <br />
