No person shall place, maintain, or display upon or in view of any hi.ghwav any unauthorized sign, signal, marking, or de~~ice which purports t o be or is ar_ imitation of or resembles an o_ff:ic9_al traffic-control device or rail- road sign or signal or which attempts to direct the movement of traffic, or which hidE;s from view or interferes with the effectiveness of a:ny traffic-control device or any rail- road sign or signal, and no person shall place or maintain nor shall an~T public authority permit upon any highway any traffic sign or signal bearinr7; thereon any commercial ad- vertising. This shall not be deemed to prohibit the erec- tion u~>on private property adjacent to highways of signs giving usef~.,zl directional information and of a type that cannot be mistaken for• official signs. Every such prohibited sign, signal, or marking is 'nere- by declared to be a public nuisance and t'ne Town n4arsha.ll is hereby, empowered to remove the same or cause it to be removed without notice. Sec. 14. No person. shall, without lawful authority, attempt to or in fact a~.ter, deface, injure, knock down or remove any official traffic-control device or any in- scription, shield, or insignia thereon, or an~T other part thereof. When. signs are erected giving notice- thereof, no person shall p^-rk a ~~Tehicle at any time upon any street or in any pa.rtj_cular area indicated as a no parking zone by said sign. Sec. lO.
