according to state statutes governing <br />public meetings." <br />Mayor Fauson responded stating it was not <br />a secret meeting. On Wednesday, January <br />1%, four member of this Council met with <br />Congressman Dave Skaggs. During their <br />discussion with him, the highway situation <br />was brought to light . Skaggs said this was <br />a local issue and that it should be handled <br />locally. It was also said that the mayors <br />should have a meeting of the four cities <br />to discuss this further. On January 24, <br />Broomfield mayor called Mayor Fauson and <br />asked if I he would attend this Macy<?i.ing. <br />"I didn't know anything about the meeting. <br />He said it had been discussed in the <br />meeting with Skaggs. So I asked that the <br />meeting be set for January 27. The chamber <br />was concerned about this going to committee <br />and wanted to know what we could do. I <br />i r- f oruic~d them that we were going to discuss <br />this and see what we could do." <br />The l,c-uisville Times called Mayor Fauson <br />and asked what it was all about and he said <br />he didn't know because he had not had the <br />meeting, but stated he would gt~1 !>,-d'k i,o <br />him later and let him know exactly what <br />happened. <br />Mayor Fauson stated that on the Saturday <br />that they met with Broomfield, Lafayette, <br />acrd S-,perior, they talked about doing a <br />letter requesting access and al:~« ,- rd~v i.Lw <br />of the plan. They asked that the 20-year <br />plan be amended. No specific access was <br />a:~kc~df ! Ur . They asked for a direct route <br />from 287 to the airport. <br />On 'i~u<~sday morning, a draft of the letter <br />was faxed to each of the mayors f<sr rd~vic~w. <br />Mayor t~'auson stated, I thought it was <br />appropriate we signed the letter. Early <br />thc~ next morning they faxed in all the <br />information that we put together to give <br />it k.o council. Within two working days, <br />Council was informed of what we had done. <br />I felt I was properly representing the City <br />of Louisville. Council had given certain <br />direction in that manner when he had <br />3 <br />
