Council with an update regarding the <br />recycling program in the City of Louisville. <br />In the first year of operation, Louisville's <br />Recycling Center took in 259,144 pounds of <br />recyclable materials. The $3,021.78 <br />collected for the aluminum, newspapers, glass <br />and plastic has gone to local non-profit <br />groups on a monthly basis when they manage <br />the recycling center. Huey requested that <br />Council approve another location that has <br />been created for the recycling center and <br />that will be located at the Village Square <br />Shopping Center. <br />Mayor Fauson moved and Howard seconded, to <br />approve the new location for the recycling <br />center. Motion passed 7-0. <br />APPROVAL OF COLOR SELECTION - LIBRARY <br />Marschner detailed the color choices for the <br />interior of the Library. Three of the board <br />members for the library have seen the <br />selections and did approve it. <br />Hornbostel stated she would feel more <br />comfortable if the rest of the members of the <br />library board could see the selections. <br />Hornbostel moved and Mayor Fauson seconded to <br />approve the color selection. Motion passed <br />7-0. <br />CITY CLERK VACANCY <br />Asti-Caranci stated as a result of the City <br />Clerk vacancy, City Council will need to fill <br />the position by appointment, by a majority <br />vote of the council. The appointee will hold <br />office until the next general municipal <br />election. At the present time Donna Cummings <br />is Deputy City Clerk. <br />Sackett asked if the clerk could be given a <br />typing test, then those who type 60 words a <br />minute would be interviewed. <br />Asti-Caranci referred that question to the <br />attorney. <br />Williams stated that you can consider all of <br />the abilities of the applicants but I don't <br />think you can make that a requirement for <br />consideration.
