part of the cost and the city part?
Caranci stated the Chamber would be agreeable to
anything.
Williams stated that the lease is a one year
renewable lease and it runs with the calendar
year, the city and the chamber have the option to
renew this lease. So the motion would need to
address itself what if the lease where not renewed
by either side, who would then be responsible for
whatever rent would be to left on the remodeling.
Howard asked if some of the rent had been deferred
last year?
Asti-Caranci stated that when the city bought the
property and converted from the house to the
Chamber offices, the Chamber fixed the house to be
offices and the rent was offset by that
construction costs. In the original agreement the
rent was $450 but there were other tenants in the
building to help with the rent.
Sackett moved and Carnival seconded that City
Council approve the funding of the remodeling
project for the Louisville Chamber up to $3,700
through rent abatement, in the event that the
Chamber decides not to renew their lease for
another year the rent abatement would not
continue.
Davidson moved to amend the motion to state that
the Chamber and the City would split the cost of
the remodeling, seconded Hornbostel. Motion was
defeated 3-4.
Vote was taken on the original motion at this
time. Motion passed 7-0
OTHER
Marschner informed the Council that the grant for
the elevator has been awarded to the City in the
amount of $25,000. Hopefully the elevator would be
in around mid October.
Davidson stated that at the last meeting it was
discussed to appoint a sub-committee to develop a
water policy for the city and since then I believe
the Mayor has done that.
Mayor Fauson stated he would like to appoint Tom
Davidson, himself and Tom Phare to the sub-
committee to develop the water policy.
12
