and work them out, then report back to council at
a work session July 26th. Staff will also come
back on August 21st with another report of how the
complaints are being dealt with. Additional
complaints would be directed to the City
Administrator's office.
It was also suggested to have suggestions boxes
placed at both facilities to let the .people
comment on the facilities.
RECREATION CENTER (1) ADDITIONAL SWIMMING AREA
Brand showed the Council slides of the recreation
center and where additional swimming areas could
be added.
Council felt that $200,000 was a high price to pay
for an addition to the swimming area, Before any
decision would be made Council wanted to see other
options and have this item discussed at the budget
work sessions. it was agreed to use this as a
Decision Package in the budget process.
Hornbostel asked to be excused from the next agenda item due to a
conflict of interest.
HANDICAPPED ACCESS, OPTIONS FOR ENHANCED ACCESS AT RECREATION
CENTER, LIBRARY, AND CITY HALL
Brand showed Council slides on the handicapped
access area at the recreation center. Some
suggestions to improve the handicapped access area
are signs in front of the wheelchair spaces,
correcting the lip at the front entry ramp and
push button powered operators to open the front
doors. Also at City Hall the push button powered
operators to open the front doors. At the Library
push button powered operators to open the front
doors and install barriers at the Spruce Street
door.
It was suggested to have the signs put up in the
wheelchair spaces, also have the parking stalls
for handicapped changed and made a little larger
and the rest of the parking stall be used for
motorcycle parking. These two items would be done
immediately. The lip in front of the entry ramp
will be taken care of by the contractor at their
expense. The push button powered operators were
to be looked at to see if there were other options
that would be used.
Pat Hornbostel, 655 W. Hawthorn, Louisville, Co.
14
