really have a strong issue with the ability
to have addressability. The major concerns
are the service and the day-to-day operations
such as down time. These issues have to be
addressed. If we cannot get the service that
the citizens say that they want from this
corporation then we need to a least look at
what other corporations are available to give
us the service the citizens want.
Sackett: Since I have been on council there have been
two issues that I have received numerous
phone calls over, the first one is what to do
with their trash and the second one has to do
with how trashy the cable company system is.
I have been disappointed with the response
that I have received from the cable company
and I think if the cable company is willing
to sit down with council and design a system
that is state of the art for our community,
I am quite happy to remain with Scripps
Howard. Our citizens can not take advantage
of state of the art technology, if the compa-
ny is willing to work with us and make the
changes necessary then let's work with them,
if not then we should take ever step possible
to change companies. Let's deal with serv-
ice, how soon will people get their cable
hooked up, when will the cables be buried and
let's deal with addressability. We need to
have an answer from the cable company, will
they be willing to work with us or not. If
not then we need to take the next steps to
make a change.
Davidson: In the our contract with Scripps Howard it
states that they require a state of the art
cable system. How does the company define
that?
Griffin: I think it is in the eye of the beholder.
We will work with the city on providing the
state of the art system and if off premise is
the way to go then we will work on installing
it here, but at the present time the experts
in the industry are not convinced that is the
way to go.
Davidson: I received a letter from a Mrs. Gerber who
has your cable service and requested two
additional lines but would use one box. She
was told that violated a FCC regulation.
Griffin: It could at some point do that, FCC has put
strict standards on the industry.
