to some refinement.
Franklin: Gave an overview of the alternatives that have
been proposed. These alternatives were shown on a
map that Franklin presented for the Council. The
parcel in question is currently zoned for indus-
trial development. That was one of the concerns
that was discussed with Commissioner Stewart. The
question was asked, "Are there any alternatives to
accomplish a Parkway effect, while looking at
minimizing the impact of completion of the indus-
trial zoned property in the area?" This will be
worked on at a later date.
Davidson: Is the County at this time asking us to commit to
a specific open space plan or just to the concept
of open space?
Brand: I would say a specific, unless we can work out a
compromise.
Mayor Fauson: My talk with Homer Page was that they were going
to make a request that we change our Comprehensive
Plan in that area of Highway 287.
Hornbostel: I was told that some of these people have ap-
proached them and told them they would be willing
to sell.
Davidson: Since CTC already has buildings on it, how can
that be turned into open space?
Franklin: Not all of the land is built on yet.
Mayor Fauson called for public comments.
Tom Mayer, 580 Wildrose Way, Louisville, Co.
Mayer: I would like to speak in support of Ron Stewart's
and MTDC compromise plan on W-470, which would be
using existing roads and designating the road with
Parkway status. First it would improve County
roads, and state roads in the southeast County
area already in need of improvements. It will do
this at a fraction of the W-470 cost. It will
provide alternatives for those who find this
necessary to the new airport. It provides the
opportunity to phase in the roadway. I would
prefer to go with the 96th to Dillon Road for the
plan. I would hope we could develop the open
space and proper setbacks and proper land use
planning. I would hope you would work with the
County in developing this area. I hope the Coun-
cil will carefully consider this plan, and go
4
