Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
February 9 2015

Parks and Recreation Department · 749 Main Street · Louisville, CO 80027
(303) 335-4735 · FAX (303) 335-4738
www.louisvilleco.gov

Parks Recreation Senior Services Open Space Forestry Trails Golf

equipment will be using during the grow-in period to avoid damage due to
rocks etc. and the City-owned equipment is expected to be delivered in
May/June. Further equipment can be got on loan from L.L Johnson if
needed.
o A favorable deal has been negotiated on golf carts from EASY-GO on a five-
year lease. These will use brushless AC motors that are 15% more energy
efficient and will have longer life. These carts will recharge their batteries
when coasting or going downhill. There is a 4 year warranty on the carts
which covers a battery check and free replacement, if required, at the end of
the warranty period. The carts will be customized for Coal Creek with decals
and fitted with coolers and sand bottles. They will include a GPS system at
no cost to the city, being paid for by advertisements. The GPS will be able to
track carts for pace of play but will not prevent carts being driven into
restricted areas. Food can be ordered using the GPS. The contract for the
cart lease will be submitted for signature in March for delivery in late May,
early June.
o Bicycle carts are still under consideration although the hill on holes 15 and
16 may make them unrealistic.
o David B will work on clubhouse inventory with expected stocking date of
June.
o Geese remain a problem. The painted barrels, supposed to scare the
geese, are ineffective. A robotic “goosinator” ground-based drone has been
used from time to time, along with David’s dog, to scare away the geese.
o So far, FEMA has reimbursed the City $1.4M, around 70% of the expected
reimbursement. A new contact has been designated by FEMA. He lives
locally and has suggested that additional FEMA funding may be considered
to cover some of the remaining replacement irrigation controllers.
o The Board noted that work on the Dillon underpass bridge is scheduled for
May/June. Public Works will coordinate this to avoid interruption of golf
course work.
o The two air conditioners on the clubhouse roof are failing and it is planned to
replace them with a single central unit. It was pointed out that Boulder Metal
(owners are Men’s Club members) had taken care of the units in the past
and may be able to repair them at significantly less cost.
o A computer is planned for the basement to enter inventory numbers and
track maintenance on the golf carts. The clubhouse will be linked to the City
Fiber network.
o The floors in the maintenance facility will be redone.
o There was a brief discussion of volunteer opportunities. This will be
discussed again at the next Board Meeting.
