Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
February 9, 2015
Trice stated that is going to be part of the master plan — to create a program for relocating
structures.
Watson stated lead paint is a big issue for giving historical materials away.
Stewart stated he wasn't sure how much of an actual issue that is.
Trice stated they have chosen to wait out the 90 day stay.
564 Grant
Trice said two demo permits, for siding, windows and roof, were released due to lack of
historical materials.
841 Garfield
Trice stated this was a review of the demolition of the rear addition. It was released due to its
limited impact on the structure.
Stewart asked for two more updates: Empire and 10101 Dillon Road.
Trice stated she spoke with Jim Cohen and they continue to work on his HSA. She stated the
stay did expire.
Stewart stated there are a number of issues with this application, such as having an active
demolition permit while seeking an HSA.
Watson asked if this something we should document as a portion of our process which needs
to be improved and include that in the master plan.
Stewart recommended we should schedule this on the next agenda as a policy change. The
policy would state that anytime you request grant funding you should withdraw your demolition
permit.
Watson agreed.
Trice stated she wasn't sure what the legal issues were but could be something we could
consider.
Watson asked the board how to handle this as another agenda item.
Trice stated we have a fairly large agenda for March. She stated she would need to find out
what is involved in this policy change. She will include a memo on what she learned.
Fahey mentioned the advanced agendas Russ stated the Council uses. She asked if that is
something we should consider.
Trice stated it is a timing issue because staff is trying to move the items as quickly as possible.
