this Ordinance for not only the Rec Center, but
the other projects as well.
Carnival stated he was pleased to see this
Ordinance come before Council and appreciates the
efforts of the present administration and the
support of this Council and the community.
Carnival stated that it is appropriate that if
this City wants these projects and they are
willing to pay for them, they will have the
opportunity to vote for them on March 21st.
Mayor Fauson closed the public hearing.
Stahl stated that he, the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem
Mohr met with the Senior Citizen Board last week
and was surprised to hear the comments from Ms.
Galligar tonight, but will commit to work with the
Seniors to better identify the needs of the
seniors and get this matter resolved.
Mayor Fauson stated that at their meeting with the
Seniors they were supportive of the Center and
will work on the Committee during final design of
the Rec Center to address their specific needs.
Sackett stated that adequate space should be
available to all groups at certain times, but not
totally designated to anyone group.
Mohr stated that it was his understanding after
meeting with the Senior Board that an on-going
process would allow for the Seniors to state and
the Council to address their needs and feels badly
that what Ms. Galligar stated this evening did not
come across at this meeting with the Board.
However, this can be addressed during the planning
process, not this evening.
Councilmen Ferrero, Anderson and Scarpella briefly
stated that they support this Ordinance and
believe they can work beneficially with the
Seniors to address their needs, as well as the
needs of the entire community.
With no further discussion, Mayor Fauson called
for a motion.
Carnival moved and Scarpella seconded to adopt
Ordinance #981, Series 1989. By Roll Call Vote,
ordinance #981, Series 1989 was approved 7-0.
RESOLUTION #4, SERIES 1989 - SETTING A SPECIAL ELECTION CONCERNING SALES
AND USE TAX Read by title only, Resolution #4, Series 1989, "A
Resolution submitting to the registered electors
7
