APPROVAL OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE AND
BOULDER COMMUNITY HOSPITAL FOR PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICALS AND WORKER'S
:OMPENSATION This item was pulled from the Consent Calendar for
discussion of the provision for drug screening for
all levels of employment.
At the April 4, 1989 Council meeting, Council
approved additional funds in the Personnel budget
to conduct pre-employment physicals for Public
Safety, Treatment Plant and Labor and Trades
personnel and approval of this agreement provides
for pre-employment physicals for each of those
three categories of personnel to be performed at
Community Medical Center on South Boulder Road as
it is the closest medical facility with emergency
room capabilities. This will allow the City
better management of our worker's compensation
claims and ensure that people are working in
whatever capacity allowed as soon as possible.
The City is not currently practicing a policy of
pre-employment physicals at any level of
employment.
Anderson asked that staff consider having the drug
screening available at all levels. Mohr
concurred.
Anderson moved and Mayor Fauson seconded that
Council approve the Memorandum of Understanding
and check into the aspect of the screening being
conducted at all levels of employment. Motion
passed 7-0.
OTHER: Phare explained that on April 30th, the South
Boulder Road Railroad Crossing will be closed to
begin the installation of new crossing material.
For a few days following, the crossing will be
limited to one lane until the project is complete.
Phare also explained that the annual flushing
program will begin this week so that residents
won't be alarmed when their water is discolored
for a short period of time.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE
REPORTS Anderson stated that the Consortium of Cities
meeting is in Louisville on May 3, 1989, and asked
that anyone interested attend.
Mohr stated that the W-470 suit filed by the
Concerned Citizens was dismissed on April 4, 1989.
There is a W-470 Board meeting tomorrow and a
10
