City Council <br />Special Meeting Minutes <br />January 10, 2012 <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />2012 CITY COUNCIL GOALS <br />Philosophy — Focus on core services /mission/values <br />1. Aging Infrastructure Plan. Prioritize capital projects and develop plans <br />for funding and executing projects for water, wastewater, streets, <br />facilities, PROST master plan, golf course master plan, and <br />recreation /senior center <br />2. Open Space Tax. Evaluate expanding uses to include the golf course <br />and develop information for voter consideration of issue in November <br />2012 <br />3. Trail Connections /Open Space Acquisition/Way Finding. Develop 3 -5 <br />year plan prioritizing action to address these issues <br />4. Commercial Historic Preservation Incentives. Develop and implement <br />program including workshops and outreach to proactively raise the <br />visibility of this program and improve the likelihood that important historic <br />properties will be preserved <br />5. Board /Commission Collaboration. Identify and implement actions to <br />improve understanding among Board /Commission members of what <br />other Boards /Commissions are working on and opportunities to <br />collaborate effectively <br />6. Snow Removal Policy Update. Evaluate options for improving service <br />and, if necessary, recommend changes and /or increasing resources <br />devoted to snow removal <br />7. Economic Development/Stabilize Sales Tax. Evaluate all options and <br />take those steps most likely to facilitate new operations in Sam's Club, <br />Safeway, and other properties that contribute to the economic health of <br />the City <br />8. Gateway /Pedestrian Access to Downtown from Highway 42 to <br />Downtown. Complete next steps necessary to achieve inviting and safe <br />connection between Downtown and the Sports Complex across Hwy 42 <br />(reflecting what happens with FasTracks and other regional <br />
