COMPREHENSIVE PLAN - 1989 UPDATE AND SUMMARY -
PUBLIC HEARING At its April 18th meeting, City Council continued
the public hearing on the Louisville Comprehensive
Plan until this evening.
Mayor Fauson re-opened the public hearing and the
City Clerk certified publication of the public
hearing.
Franklin stated that Planning Commission held one
informal public meeting in February and then
adopted the Comp Plan after a public hearing in
April. This is the first major update since 1983.
This is a policy plan in concept in that the
various goals, objectives and policies are
portrayed in the front of the document with
statistical information in the rear of the
document. The Plan is to give a basis for zoning
review and provide the City with a long and short
term blueprint upon which to consider capital
improvements, development review and other related
designs. Franklin stated that it is not cast in
concrete. It is based upon conditions as are
known today. It is a guideline and does advertise
the City's interest and intent in development in
the future.
The Planning Commission directed that the
southwest area near Marshall Lake be re-
established as part of the City's planning area.
Franklin explained that the document has been
organized for ease of use and an executive summary
of the plan is proposed, a draft of which is
included. The summary will consist of color land
use map with text on the reverse side. Council
approval of the supplemental printing funds ($650)
is requested to pay for the more widely
distributed summary.
Mayor Fauson asked for any public comments either
in favor of or in opposition to the Louisville
Comprehensive Plan. None.
Mayor Fauson stated that Council had reviewed the
Plan in depth several times during work sessions
and Council is pleased with the product and
thanked staff for their work.
Mayor Fauson closed the public hearing and called
for a motion.
3
