APPROVAL OF LIBRARY <br />ARCHITECT <br />PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION - <br />RECYCLING <br />Stahl and Marschner explained that Pursuant <br />to the Capital Improvements Program, the <br />Construction Services Department solicited <br />proposals for interested architectural firms <br />for the design of the renovation of the 950 <br />Spruce Street structure into the new library. <br />Five proposals were received and interviewed <br />by staff and the Library committee. With <br />unanimous consent, staff recommends the award <br />of an architectural services contract to the <br />firm of Midyette/Seieroe in the amount of <br />$13,500, with an allowance for reimbursable <br />expenses not-to-exceed $1,500. <br />Also recommended is the award of a contract <br />to Midyette/Seieroe in the amount not to <br />exceed $3,000 to provide master planning <br />services for the library site and vacant lot <br />to the south. This will provide for a master <br />plan of the entire Fischer Building to ensure <br />proper planning for future expansion. Also, <br />the Library Board and Director will be able <br />to use the marketing data this plan will <br />provide for application to state and private <br />sector grants that are available. <br />Mohr moved and Ferrera seconded to award the <br />firm of Midyette/Seieroe the contract for the <br />architectural services for the library <br />project in the amount of $13,500 with an <br />allowance for reimbursable expenses not-to- <br />exceed $1,500. And award the firm of <br />Midyette/Seieroe the contract to provide <br />master planning services for the library site <br />and vacant lot to the south in an amount not <br />to exceed $3,000 and authorize the Mayor and <br />City Clerk to sign all pertinent documents. <br />Motion passed 5-0. <br />Glen Huey, Town & Country Disposal, presented <br />Council with an update regarding the <br />recycling program in the City of Louisville <br />and thanked Council for their support of this <br />program. Since the beginning of the program <br />in December, 1988, the program has continued <br />to grow from 2,507 lbs of material collected <br />to 27,267 lbs of recyclable material in just <br />6 months' time which translate into $420.68 <br />for the various non-profit groups in <br />Louisville. Ta help inform people of this <br />service fliers have been placed at each <br />residence and ~ special messages have been <br />placed on the City's water bills. Notices <br />
