January 4, 2008
Mayor Chuck Sisk
749 Main Street
Louisville CO 80027
Dear Mayor Sisk:
~/4iA< I
GrT~ Ur f ~ 1~~R
aT1''°vR~t
GF
I am writing to express my interest in being appointed to a municipal board or commission for
2008. While I am interested and willing to serve in almost any capacity that the City Council sees
fit, •segen#he~g~Ce~iesien.
Professionally, I am aplanner who focuses on communication, public engagement and consensus
building in the infrastructure field. Through my professional experience, I know how important
sound planning and the deliberations of the planning commission are to the life of the community.
I also understand that the comprehensive plan and the planning commission are instrumental tools
for local democracy, providing citizens the opportunity to influence their own quality of life and
the character of their community. And as a consensus building and communications professional
who works in the infrastructure field, I know that planning commissions can be either the
battleground or the common ground for some of the most important and contentious issues in a
community.
The decisions the commission makes, in collaboration with the City Council and the citizens of
Louisville, and the way in which they make those decisions will have a profound impact on our
community. This awareness would engender in me a deep respect for the responsibility of a
planning commissioner and a recognition of the importance of balancing our responsibility to the
vision expressed in our comprehensive plan with an openness to our changing regional context.
Above all, I would respect the importance of having an open, constructive and ongoing dialogue
with the leaders and citizens of Louisville so that our vision remains relevant, our deliberations
build community and our decisions continue to capture our highest and best aspirations.
Thank you for your consideration as well as your service to the city. I have provided a resume for
your reference. I look forward to discussing my interest and qualifications for this position
further.
Sincerely,
L. -~
Scott A.
