Arts & Humanities Council
Agenda
November 15, 2007

- Kathy asked about our contribution to the Cultural Cafe. We gave them
$2,200 last year. Because of our SCFD grant cuts, Don made a motion to
change our contribution to $1,000 and provide encouragement to the Senior
Center that they attend other arts events in the community. Julie K. seconded
and the motion, and all were in favor.

XI. Events Schedule Update - Julie K.
- Julie K. will amend with audience counts as people get them to her. People
planning events should get 2008 dates to her.

XIII. Public Relations Update - Julie K.
- We have 553 people on our e-mail newsletter.
It was discussed that we could either use someone to submit calendar
submissions, or that people should do this as part of their events.
It was discussed that we should put links on the LCC Web site to Louisville
arts organizations.
- Lynn Flemming and Maryan want to get a representative from each arts
organization to have coffee with the Louisville Times to suggest a weekly
events calendar.

XIV. New Arts Center Update - Don Atwood
- LAA is backing away from the project again. Center Stage contact is occupied
with many other commitments. The Chamber of Commerce and CCCT are
still active. Don will have one more meeting before the year is over.

- XV. LCC Brainstorming
- Kathy P. wants to do a call for end of year donations. We will include it in the
Presidents outgoing message in December. We will point them to an online
form on the recreation center site. Kathy P. will get dollar amounts and any
information needed to Kathy M. Kathy says we should be doing this request
quarterly.
- Maryan went to a BCAA Audience Development meeting. It was about
helping arts organizations to develop their audience. They discussed how to
broaden, deepen and diversity your audience. Don made he point that good
art attracts a good audience, he thinks this could add some unneeded
complexity to what we already do.

XVI. Recap of completed events.
- Laura and Thereza Coffeehouse concert was good, and got 67 attendees.
Wendy says half the audience was theirs.
- Ballroom dance event had 21 people. Casablanca will be featuring our events
on their Web site. We pay them $200 for each even. Cost to LCC is about
$40. Cookies were donated, city did the poster printing.

XVII. Upcoming Fall events
