Mayer:

the Lastokas, the County, and
Lafayette.

Not only do I think our prospects in
engaging in that activity have an
incredibly small prospect of
yielding anything, they could yield
financial damages to the City. As
public servants who are sworn to
uphold the law, to go in public and
say that we're going to encourage
people to break a contract. We're
going to violate an agreement. In
order to do this, probably go
against the wishes of the last
public vote on this issue. It
really doesn't make any sense to me.
Our chances of succeeding here are
minuscule. The chances for damages
are not insignificant. The
additional cost to Boulder County
and Lafayette would be $75,000.00 a
piece. I'm sure Lafayette's
position would be, "in for a dime,
in for eleven cents." For
$150,000.00 we get an awful lot of
benefit.

Sisk:

Hedding:

The only way I would want to be a
part of any City purchase would be
where Boulder County, which is a
signatory to the agreement, would
assign that agreement to us. Not
that we would get into a bidding war
with the Lastokas, because we have a
contract agreement with the Lastokas
by way of Boulder County. I think
we're really welcoming trouble, if
we try to undermine that and I don't
want to be a party to that.
Citizens have told us that they want
open space. My vision is that 25
years from now my children will have
that as an open space for them. I
don't want to see the corner of
South Boulder Road and Hwy. 42
become a four-way maize of
commercial buildings.

While I agree with the sentiments
and comments of Councilmen Lathrop
and Howard, I think that the horse

2O
