Davidson closed the Public Hearing and asked for Council comments,
questions, and/or motions.

Howard moved that Council approve Ordinance No. 1093, Series 1993,
on second reading. Seconded by Hornbostel. Roll call was taken.
Motion passed by a 7-0 vote.

ORDINANCE NO. 1094, SERIES 1993, AMENDING CHAPTER 2.32 OF THE
LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE INCREASING THE SALARY OF THE MUNICIPAL
JUICE - 1ST READING - SET PUBLIC REARING 2/2/93

Tanoue read by title only Ordinance No. 1094, Series 1993, "An
ordinance amending Chapter 2.32 of the Louisville Municipal Code
increasing the salary of the Municipal Judge."

Annette Brand, City Administrator, stated that this was discussed
during the Budget work sessions and adopted in the 1993 Budget
changing the Municipal Judge's salary from $$00.00/month to
$1,000.00/month.

Sisk moved that Council approve Ordinance No. 1094, Series 1993,
1st Reading, and set Public Hearing for February 1, 1993. Seconded
by Howard. Roll call was taken. Motion passed by a 7-0 vote.

PROCLAMATION - REINVEST IN AMERICA

Hedding stated that he had talked to a lot of people who have
children and they're pretty fed up with the Boulder Valley School
System. He felt that the Proclamation, Reinvest in America, was
laced with demonstratively incorrect suppositions and wishful
thinking regarding the "Cold War." For example, in excess of
22,000 nuclear war heads are presently targeted at the U.S. and
their allies by the commonwealth of independent states, not to
mention some of the other former Soviet states over there. They
have their own nuclear weapons aimed at us. He stated that Boulder
style political correctness is what this is all about. While
Boulder Valley School District cries "crocodile tears" about the
present state of affairs, with respect to the school system, they
have yet to cut their administrative overhead in a meaningful way
and use those funds to facilitate a return to teaching basics like
reading, writing, and arithmetic. He felt the Boulder Valley
School District ought to reverse direction from what he perceives
to be their drift into an ever expanding bureaucratic, liberal,
leftist, propaganda machine. He told Council that if they think
his remarks are strong, they ought to talk to some of the parents
that he has talked to. They consider the people in the Boulder
Valley School District, by and large, to be people from another
country. He thought the Proclamation reflects that thinking. He
doesn't like it and stated that he couldn't sign up for the
Proclamation, if he had to.

Davidson called for any further Council comments.

NOME

Mayer moved that Council adopt Proclamation - Reinvest in America.
Seconded by Hornbostel.

42
