 LIBRARY & MUSEUM NEWS
MAKERSPACE UP AND RUNNING!
The Library's Makerspace is a creative space where
people can collaborate on projects and share tools they
may not be able to afford on their own. It's a great place to
meet people and share knowledge. Our Makerspace is a hub of
DIY information and activity for learners of all ages who want
hands -on experience with robotics, programming, recording
equipment, and other sorts of Science, Technology, Engineer-
ing, Art, and Math (STEAM) tools. And it's free!
AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES
From technology to building to arts and crafts, the Library
Makerspace is sure to have something that sparks your cre-
ative interests. Through the generous donations of many local
businesses and individuals, some of the items available in the
Library Makerspace include:
Two iMac 27" computers
• Green Screen
• Watercolor paints and paper
q> Rainbow Looms
q> Raspberry Pi; SparkFun Inventor's Kits (Arduino)
q> Anatomy in Clay; KEVA Planks
q> Origami paper and instructions
Over the next few months, the Makerspace will be outfit-
ted with audio and video recording equipment; a still camera;
electronic craft cutter, and a 3 -D printer and filament.
Users will need to sign the Library's Makerspace Policy
agreement prior to use of the space and equipment. You may
obtain this agreement on the website or in the Library at the
Adult Services desk on the second floor.
UPCOMING PROGRAMS
In addition to using the Makerspace to explore, the Library
offers programs across a wide variety of interests.
• March 12 ❖ 1 -3 PM - Develop iPhone & iPad Apps
(ages 10 & up)
• March 24 ❖ 6 -7 PM - Earrings 101 (ages 12 & up)
• March 25 ';' 2 -3 PM - Zentangles 101
(teens & adults)
OPEN LAB
On Monday and Wednesday afternoons, the Maker -
space will be open and staffed by a volunteer on hand to
help in your creative quest. Access to account information, the ability
to pay fees online, improved visibility of new items, and
more consistent navigation throughout the site are some
of the new features. If you haven't seen the new site yet,
we hope you will take a look.
LIBRARY CONSORTIUM IS EXPANDING
For many years, the libraries in Louisville, Boulder,
and Broomfield have shared the contents of their
collections in a joint online catalog called the Flatirons
Library Consortium, making it easy to browse and bor-
row books and other materials from all three. This year
the consortium will add the Longmont and Lafayette
public libraries. By years' end, library users in Louisville
and Superior will be able to request that a book, DVD,
or CD be transferred from any of the other four to our
own library for checkout.
