Marion J -Request that someone take over Student Showcase. Involvement
would be to book 2 concerts per year. Usually it is a promising High School or
College Student musical performance. Good leads may come from Monarch
and/or Fairview voice teachers. Artists are responsible to fill house and perform
for 30-40 minutes. We supply sound and keep 20% of the gate. They get 80%.
This is a huge opportunity for young performers. Should this event continue? Will
someone take over? Should the money budgeted for this go to another event?
Summer Concert Series: City is fully funding event. They should get full credit for
presenting the event. If anyone wants to sponsor events, they should be steered
toward other events. The exception is the June 12 Summer Concert with Henfy
Butler, which will be sponsored only for the sound costs.
Relay for Life: Should LCC have a team? Each team gets a booth at the event.
Marion J will follow-up.
It was discussed weather or not Summer Concert Series should be used as
fundraising venue. If the pizza guy who was there last year wants to come back
can we increase the fee? He paid $100 for the 3-concert series last year. In
addition, should we offer booth space to the Huckleberry, others?
It was decided we will invite the Pizza Guy back, The Huckleberry to provide
dessert options, and water will be sold by LCC. Rebecca L will follow-up with
Marion J for Steve's phone number.
Follow-up to discussion of banner across McCaslin to publicize events: There are
limited options as to where it can hang: no utility poles, no right of way. It can
hang in the Rec. Center, and/or Via Appia & S Boulder Rd.
XII. Fundraising Steering Committee -Rebecca L
Several fundraising ideas were discussed.
Kathy M - we do have dates to get a page inserted into the water bill that will
go to all residents. We can use this opportunity to inform the community of
upcoming events and ask for sponsorship.
LAA may have interest in designing art to put on an ornament that will be sold
around Louisville to raise money for LCC. Lynn W. will bring idea to LAA. This
artwork could also be on notecards, postcards, watercolor reproduction.
Other events were discussed such as 4t" of July bike parade, or art sale.
Rebecca L will follow-up with summer concert series fees for booths, water
bill insert, and work with Lynn W to define details about artwork for ornament.
