reviewed, eight Dave been revised. Council was
given the proposed position and grade revisions to
review.
Sackett asked for clarification regarding the
Exec. Secretary position. This position is not
changing grades. An additional grade is being
requested for an Administrative Assistant to the
City Administrator. Sackett asked that the
language be looked at to ensure that it is clear
that the current Exec. Secretary grade is not
being upgraded, rather an additional grade of Adm.
Assistant is being requested for the Exec.
Secretary to the City Administrator.
Sackett further questioned the upgrading of the
Dir. of Public Works. Sackett stated that
although this po~oition is currently held by Tom
Phare who "does a~n excellent job for us," it is
his suggestion treat this is delayed until Council
has an opportunity to discuss that with a new City
Administrator. "'We have several people in those
types of positions working for the City, and I
just need to haves the rationale discussed with me
before I feel comfortable putting this out."
After discussing the other position rankings and
determining that amendments could be determined on
second reading, and Council's hopes that a new
City Administrator will be hired in the near
future, Mohr suggested that second reading be
delayed until the second meeting in June, 1988.
With regard to the Administrator's Executive
Secretary position (currently a position held
by the City Clerk), Szymanski was concerned that
in the future these two positions might not be
held by the same person and that advancing that
position to Administrative Assistant might not be
the appropriate action. Szymanski suggested that
the problem may well be that the pay for City
Clerk is not right and that to correct this would
be to raise the p,ay for the City Clerk.
Since these changes will not affect the salaries
of any employees, Council chose to delay the
second reading of this Ordinance.
Mohr moved that Ordinance #951 be placed out for
publication and a public hearing be set for June
21, 1988. Carnival seconded. Unanimous.
Ferris stated that the second meeting in June is
typically rescheduled for an earlier date due to
Council's attendance at CML.
3
